چکیده

Radiolitid rudists belonging to the genera Bournonia FISCHER, Biradiolites D’ORBIGNY and Thyrastylon CHUBB are abundant in the Upper Maastrichtian, Titanosarcolites Limestones (Guinea Corn Formation and other formations) of Jamaica. Although there is a large literature on these Jamaican forms (e.g., WHITFIELD, 1897; TRECHMANN, 1924; CHUBB, 1956, 1967, 1971), little information on their microstructure, or their detailed stratigraphy has been published. Indeed, there have been few studies on the microstructure of rudists, although those there have been indicate that the microstructures have high taxonomic significance (e.g., AMICO, 1978; STEUBER, 1999). This paper presents Morphology, Microstructure and Stratigraphy of Some Late Cretaceous Radiolitid Rudists from Jamaica

Introduction and Paleontology of the Middle Tethys Ocean rudists in the Lower Cretaceous in Central Iran

This research for introduce and paleontology of Early Cretaceous Rudist in the Middle Tethys Ocean, stratigraphic section of the kalleh pahnoo has been selected from the Shahkouh Formation in Central Iran (Khor and Biabank region). The studied section consists of 120 m thin layer to massive limestone. Studies on 106 specimens collected and prepared from this section have led to the identific...

Ontogeny and Funtional Morphology of a Lower Cretaceous Carpinid Rudist (Bivalvia, Hippuritoida)

Caprinuloidea rudists are locally abundant and widespread in Lower Cretaceous (Albian Stage) Edwards Formation in Texas. Landward of the shelf margin on the shallow marine Comanche Shelf rudists built circular and elongate bioherms with coarse-grained flank deposits. Two caprinid morphotypes suggest that some lived as elevators above the substrate and others were recumbent upon mobile grain fla...

Palynofacies-based sequence stratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous strata (Abderaz Formation) in east of Koppeh-Dagh Basin, Northeast of Iran

The Upper Cretaceous strata were studied in a composite stratigraphic section named here Padeha-Baghak section in east of Koppeh-Dagh basin, north east of Iran. In this study, palynostratigraphy, palynofacies and depositional environment history of Abderaz Formation were integrated with sequence stratigraphy. Determination of sea level history and sequence units of the Abderaz Formation using s...

Morphological and systematic interpretation of some Late Cretaceous (Turonian-Santonian) irregular echinoids, Kopet-Dagh Basin, NE Iran

Abderaz Formation is one of the Upper Cretaceous formations in the Kopet-Dagh sedimentary basin. A stratigraphic section from the mentioned formation is selected for detailed systematic description with regard to echinoids. Numerous well preserved representatives of the families Mircrasteridae wright, 1857 and Echinocorythidae Lambert, 1920 are described from the Ghaleh-Zoo stratigraphic sectio...

Mesozoic basin inversion in Central Alborz, evidence from the evolution of Taleqan-Gajereh-Lar paleograben

This paper presents evidence on Mesozoic inversion of basin bounding faults within the Taleqan-Gajereh-Lar Paleograben (TGLP) in Central Alborz Range. For this purpose, well documented stratigraphy data across the TGLP together with the new acquired structural data on the geometry and kinematics of the paleograben basin bounding faults are utilized. The TGLP has evolved through the Early and Mi...
